Let's be real, it's hard to stay motivated during the winter months. You're cold, you don't want to go outside you just want to stay inside in your bed all day. On top of that, the holidays can be incredibly draining.
Lately, I've been finding myself straying off course. Not focusing on what's truly important. I think part of it is having to come to terms with the fact that not every aspect of life is going to be fun or exciting at all times. There are going to be some not so far parts but also some pretty awesome parts.
When the going gets tough it's so easy to start to make excuses.
I've found myself doing this more than I care to admit. But that's why taking a mental health day is so important. It lets you take a step back and realigned the things you deem important. This is especially true in my case when it comes to my career. I'm learning still that it takes strategic planning to reach an end goal. Which in my case is more difficult since I wouldn't classify myself as a planner.
I tend to let things come as they are and adjust appropriately. This can have some really positive outcomes but also can lead down the road of wondering why things are a certain way only to realize it's because I didn't speak up in the first place.
How do you go about changing this habit? Well I think the short answer would be to communicate what it is you're feeling right when you're feeling it. I'm still learning when it's appropriate the speak up in the office or when something seems off in my relationship. But I think it key to recognize the opportunity and work towards change that habit.
It ties back into staying on track. Not communicating what you want or your goals can point you in a direction you were trying to avoid in the first place. In college, I was a Communication and Design, Art & Technology major but I think it took longer than I expected for those some of the core takeaways in my Comm classes to sink in. It's not always about what you say, it's about what you don't say. Or what you don't do.
What about you? How do you stay on track? Pleaseee let me know.
Yes, I'm aware these photos do not relate at all to the post but I thought this would be a great opportunity to show off new shots from my most recent shoot with Sophisticaition.
