Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky to be able to experience such cool events, seriously it's pretty awesome! The other day Kit and I spent the day with Debi Lilly - party planner extraordinaire - and Julie Kennedy - an extremely talented photographer in Chicago - over at the DL Loft. Julie led a workshop focused on DLSR cameras, over the two-hour course we learned everything from basic manual settings to how improve pictures through Lightroom. It was extremely interesting to learn how to take our photography skills to the next level.
But first, can we talk about how beautiful the DL Loft is? This space is absolutely gorgeous. Debi has done an amazing job renovating the loft which sits on top of her party planning store, The Perfect Event, over in Lakeview.
After our photography workshop, we spent the rest of the day shooting and prepping for the Mac and Mash event that was being held in the evening. Guests were encouraged to bring their best mac n' cheese and mashed potato recipes for everyone to try. By end of the night everyone voted on which was their favorite recipe.
Overall, my favorite part of the day was being able to spend time shooting. What I love most about photography is that there's always something to shoot. It tests your ability to make people look or feel something from your perspective.
I was amazed when Julie told us that she spends a good chuck of her time editing photos. She explained that there is a 70/30 split when it comes to the amount of time she spends in Lightroom, in order to get the specific look she's wants.
A big thank you to Debi for letting us spend the day in her space!
