Hello loves, happy Spring! After a few chaotic weeks I wasn't really sure what to write about. And let's face it, if I told you every little thing that's been going on, we would be here all day. Sadly, I've been dealing with a lot of negativity recently, so much so, that I've had to cut back on a lot. Not necessarily because of one particular instance but because I need to spend time with myself. It's been a while since I've reset so this week I've spent time prioritizing things. And what better time than now to do some mental 'spring-cleaning'! That's why I thought it would be fun to take some time to appreciate the little things that make this season so great.
Daylight Savings
An obvious choice but hey I get excited to push the clocks forward. An hour of sleep lost means -- more daylight for activities. Yes please.
Mild Weather
After months of cold weather -- although this winter has been unusually mild. It's still nice to not have to bundle up every time I want to head outside. I can't tell you how many times I spent scrambling for a hat and gloves while trying to get to the train on time. Once I got to the city I knew I would regret not grabbing gloves and probably end up with frostbite.
Outdoor Activities
I love being outside but then again who doesn't? This week I FINALLY started to run outside again. What I love most about running is that it's the best kind of therapy -- the free kind. It de-stresses me and makes me feel like I can take on the rest of my day!
Flowers Blooming
Do you ever walk into Trader Joe's and immediately make your way over to the flower section? I always spend a good five minutes contemplating whether or not it's a good use of money to get a bouquet...or two (and the answer should always be yes). I swear you can walk into any room with flowers and instantly feel happier.
Wedding Season Begins
If you've done the wedding rounds you probably rolled your eyes thinking about it but being that I've only been to one wedding (so far) I still think they are an absolute blast (although I wish they weren't so expensive)! In the next few months I have three weddings -- one being my sister's which I'm the maid of honor. SO if you have any tips on how to throw a bachelorette party, feel free to send them my way.
People are Genuinely Happier
I notice this more in the city, especially when I'm on the train, people are more chatty and friendly. Just the other day, my Uber drive told me how he loves the change in weather because he notices passengers are more talkative which makes his job more enjoyable. I love it. People just seem to have a little extra pep in their step.
These are only a few of the many reasons I welcome Spring with open arms! What about you? What's your favorite part about Spring?
In cased you missed it, I had the opportunity to interview a very talented young illustrator name Oona Holtane for The Chicago Chic.
